The Empire Hill Climb originally ran from 1964–1980 and made a return to Empire in 2014. The Hill Climb has only increased in popularity since its revival, with more cars entering each year!
During the early years of the climb, cars that raced included Austin Healey’s, Jaguar E-Type’s, AMC Gremlin’s, Formula Ford and V’s, Triumph’s, Corvette’s, Porsche’s and even a Ferrari or two. The first revival the Hill Climb saw an entry list ranging from a Formula Ford to a Modified Circle Track car – which actually won! This is the fourth year of its revival and looks to be bigger and better.
The day of the event begins with the Parc Expose, where participants park their cars along Main Street and attendees have an opportunity to get an up close look at the cars and talk to the owners.
After the Parc Expose the Hill Climb officially starts with time trials on the hill. For those that want to take in the action, there is a special spectator viewing area set up along the hill.
The Hill Climb is mostly in need of course workers, so sign up and get close to the action! Bring your friends and family to watch. Get a free t-shirt, get free food, and come help put on this great race!
