A quaint and charming lakeside village of about 400 people, Empire is home to the Headquarters for Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. A short drive from Traverse City, we are centrally located along famous M-22, in the gorgeous Leelanau Peninsula of northwest lower Michigan.
From outdoor outfitters and eclectic art galleries to delicious dining and historic bed and breakfasts, the village of Empire has everything you need for a short or extended weekend dunes adventure.
